In case of long-term power failure, every single household needs to have a rainwater
catchment system!  Be self-reliant.
Collecting rainwater & storing it can be used to:  Water gardens and livestock, Flush
toilets, shower, for Laundry & Kitchen sink running water. 
There is no prep more important than water besides air. Water is so taken for granted
but is far more important than even food storage.
